Tip Spotlight - Stress Reduction Tips in the Workplace

 

 

 

 

How can I reduce stress from my job?

1)      Exercise – and by that I do not mean talking out the trash.  Break a sweat for 10-20 minutes a day.  Exercising releases endorphins that make us happy.

 

2)      Get the sleep you need.  Lack of sleep can make it tough on getting up in the morning, which can make your commute to work stressful.  Instead sleep between 7-8 hours.

 

3)      Eat breakfast.  Your body will start to function better if you just grab a healthy snack such as an apple or bowl of cereal. 

 

4)      Do not over eat - Over eating can often make you lethargic and slow. 

 

5)      Do something different – change your routine to include some time with the family or friends. 

 

6)      Get away from your desk at work.  Sometimes you cannot leave the building but you can leave your desk.  10-15 minutes to read a magazine or get some food can refresh you for the rest of the day.

 

7)      Stay away from junk food.  Sugar and candy can make you hyper one minute and crash the next.  Balance out your snacks and meals. 

 

8)      Make a list – If you find you getting behind make a list and work on those things.  Just the site of seeing things getting accomplished can reduce stress. 

 

9)      Reorganize your day – if you find that you do not have enough time at the end of the day to wash clothes – start washing clothes before dinner.

 

If people in your life stress you out – tell them.  Cut the conversation short unless they are talking about positive things.  But if they call you up to complain or bash someone then tell them you are busy.
