My fish died. My fish are always dying? How much do I
need to feed my fish? My fish are killing the other fish?
Here are some tips that will help you keep your fish healthy and
growing.
1)
Watch the PH balance of the tank.
You can easily kill off you whole tank if you add to many
fish at the same time to your tank.
Even when the tank is new add 1-2 fish at a time.
2)
1:1 is the ratio of fish to gallons.
Keep in mind that if you have plants and decorations in your
tank you will have less water.
3)
Tropical fish vs. Cold water fish.
Mixing and matching these two kinds of fish can add
disastrous results to your tank.
Goldfish and catfish are the two most resilient kind of cold
water fish that can stand the warm temperature of tropical fish.
4)
Under gravel filters work best but need the filters changed
out regularly. Hooking
your under gravel filter to a good air pump will keep oxygen flowing
through all the water (bottom to top).
5)
Clean your tank once a week.
Get a pump that will take the water down to 50%.
Once a month take out 75% percent of the water and replace it
with fresh room temperature water.
6)
Take out the chlorine. Chlorine
is to fish as acid is to us. Keep
the water chlorine free.
7)
Hostile fish vs. non hostile fish.
Hostile fish can kill off a tank and create a stressful
environment with the other fish, make sure you ask the pet store if
the type of fish you are purchasing will get along with what you
have.
8)
Feed only as much as they can consume in about five minutes.
Overfeeding can cause the ph balance to get out of whack and
make algae explode all over your tank.
9)
Do no clean the gravel.
It is best to steer clear of cleaning the gravel since that
is the fish’s ecosystem. Disturbing
the gravel can the bacteria the fish need to die off?
10)
Do not bang on the glass.
It really can kill the fish.
